Marathon Monday is a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, established in 2012 by Patrick Law & Dylan Thornborough. In 2012 Patrick & Dylan decided to conduct a "golf marathon" to raise funds for Breast Cancer after Patrick's mother was disgnosed and in the midst of her successful battle with the disease. The two ended up playing 128 holes and raising $5,800. Since then the two have continued to conduct this fundraiser each year and have built the event into a fundraiser that brought in $41,418 in 2024 and $193,318 over a 13 year period.
In 2024, Patrick & Dylan set an unofficial World Record for the Most Holes of Golf Played in a 12 hour period by playing 333 holes at Glenboro Golf & Country Club. This feat combined with the 10 other marathons happening at clubs across Manitoba helped the Marathon Monday Fundraiser raise $41,418 and become the third highest golf fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Today, Patrick & Dylan continue to do their Marathon each year but are now not alone in their fundraising efforts. Teams from all over Manitoba hit the links on a Monday in the summer flying the Marathon Monday flag playing 100 holes or more in one day!
Marathon Monday is always looking for new golfers to join their cause each season. If you are interested in conducting a Marathon Monday event at your golf course, please contact Patrick at 204-720-9623 and be part of the fight against cancer.
